As Postgate Farm is built into the hillside, it is a foregone conclusion that terracing & steps have been used to access the lower garden & grounds. Also a few steps are needed at most of the entrances. We have done our best to safeguard our guests by fitting handrails where possible, but please do take care when exploring our extensive outdoor areas.

Our first floor self catering Studio Flat is a converted Barn, adjoining the main farmhouse and is a 35 metre walk from the car parking area – along a flagged patio.

We are 1.5 miles from Glaisdale village, where the shop & P.O. & a wonderful butchers shop are, also a good village pub with excellent meals. Trains & buses run into Whitby from here, 4 each way on a daily basis, but you really do need a car for our rural location.

We have a Games room next to the Studio, with its own entrance – up 2 steps plus 2 internal steps, doorway 29 inches wide. Entrance to Studio is also up 2 deeper, 7inch steps, with handrails fitted to either side, doorway 30 inches wide. Within this lobby, are 2 doors, each being 30 inches wide. One of these goes into the laundry, with Washer, Dryer, Freezer and Dishwasher. The other is the lock up entrance to the Studio, with small ground floor lounge – which can convert into a sleeping area.

Extra grab rails have been fitted to supplement the existing handrail on the 26inch wide 12 step staircase, which leads up to the first floor landing. The door into the Studio is 29 inches wide. Another 22inch wide door leads into the shower room, with toilet & basin. The shower cubicle is extra large, so there is ample space for a shower stool.

The 16 feet square studio consists of a fully fitted kitchen – with 36 inch high work tops. A compact dining table with four chairs also ample storage space & comfortable seating. A super comfy 4' 6” Bed which folds (fully made up) into the wall space when not in use, making extra living space.

The Flat is carpeted throughout and well lit.

The Heating is all electric and we are a non smoking establishment. We keep in regular contact with our local Fire Brigade, who advise us of anything we can do to further lower the risk of fire in both the Studio and the adjoining Farmhouse.
